Four Women
1995, Acrylic on Canvas, 17" x 28"I know I still have a napkin sketch from the burrito shoppe where I watched these four friends during my half hour lunch break one afternoon. I spent a lot of time on the idea of purse straps looped over the backs of chairs, but the real kick was in the people that emerged when I began the painting months later. I'm not sure where these personalities came from—the slight attention I had been paying them was no more than the irritated envy of my stressed out mood, but I'm glad they graced me.
