Bus Stop
1997, Acrylic on Canvas, 18" x 24"I saw the kids swinging around the bus stop pole years before I finally painted the image. When I painted the yellow stripes on the boy with two left feet's shirt, I knew I was in trouble. "It's fucking Balthus!" Ah, yesss, the fatted thigh of the pubescent child, the spooky looks, this dog or reptile jumping with excitement. But this painting grows on me the more I look at it. It has some really good stuff going on.
